Faculty and staff at the University of Cincinnati are encouraged to submit their scholarly work as digital content for the Digital Resource Commons.  After reviewing the guidelines below, please contact us to set up an initial consultation to discuss training and procedures.

• Content submitted to the Digital Resource Commons (DRC) is available to users for educational and research purposes, not for commercial use, unless you specify otherwise in a Creative Commons license statement that you obtain (see below).
• If you are the copyright holder, you maintain that copyright for your digital content.
• You are responsible for ensuring that the digital content you submit is free of any copyright restrictions that prevent legal sharing of the content.
• You must give the DRC permission to provide access to your content by agreeing to the DRC default license.
• You may also obtain a Creative Commons license.  This is strongly recommended.  The DRC online submission process includes a choice to link a Creative Commons license statement to your digital content.  An understandable and clear license statement is automatically generated based on your answers to these questions:
  • Do you allow commercial uses of your work?  Yes ⁄ No
  • Do you allow modifications of your work?  Yes ⁄ Yes, as long as others share alike ⁄ No

  Here is an example of a Creative Commons license statement that would not allow commercial use but would allow modifications — altering, transforming or building upon your work — as long as the resulting work is "shared alike", that is, shared under the same or similar license terms.

The University of Cincinnati reserves the right to take appropriate action should infringements of this policy occur.
