Description: GOAL: To describe the function components of the reproductive systems of male and females, the physiological basis for reproductive cyclicity in females and changes in the reproductive systems that occur at the puberty in males and females. 3.3 Objective: To describe the changes in the secretion of hypothalamic, pituitary and gonadal hormones at the time of puberty. 3.3.1 Hormone Concentrations During Puberty (Animated Graph) -Do the reproductive systems of males and females function during childhood as they do in adult? -Is the hypothalamic-pituitary unit sensitive to gonadal steroids during childhood? -How do gonadotropin and reproductive steroid hormone levels fluctuate during fetal life, infancy, childhood, puberty and adulthood? -When do males and females undergo puberty? -What is the first observed hormonal change for males and females at puberty?
