Description: GOAL: To describe the coordinated changes in the components of the female reproductive system throughout the menstrual cycle and identify the causes and effects of menopause. 4.1 Objective: To describe the sequence of cellular events in ovarian follicular development beginning with the primordial follicle and ending with the demise of the corpus luteum. 4.1.3 Follicular Development, Ovulation and Corpus Luteum (Animation) -What cells are stimulated by FSH and what are the effects of FSH? -What cells are simulated by LH and what are the effects of LH? -How long does it take for a follicle to develop from a primordial follicle to a preovulatory follicle? -Why does a single follicle become dominant in the average human female? -What are the cellular events in the ovarian follicle leading up to ovulation? -How long does the corpus luteum remain active if the ovulated oocyte is fertilized and if it is not fertilized?
