University of Cincinnati Protest Posters and Campus Unrest Collection
Permanent URI for this collection
Like many college campuses, the University of Cincinnati has a history of protest and rallies through which students, faculty and staff have expressed their First Amendment rights. This digital collection contains posters, flyers, and advertisements for protests and rallies at the University of Cincinnati spanning from the late 1960s through the 2010s. Included in the collection are posters and flyers protesting against the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War (1990-1991), the Bosnian War (1992-1995), the Iraq War (2003-2011), and a planned speech on campus by a white supremacist. There are also posters and flyers for rallies, protests, and events supporting Black Civil Rights and human rights. Many of the flyers were originally posted around the University of Cincinnati's campus and were acquired by Archives and Rare Books Library staff. The majority posters and flyers were created by University of Cincinnati students and student organizations, although there are also faculty created posters.
