The News Record -- The University of Cincinnati's Independent Student Newspaper
For researchers interested in the University of Cincinnati and student life, digitized copies of the student newspaper, the News Record provides significant insight to campus life. While the issues are not transcribed, the PDFs are text-searchable. In addition, each issue has numerous photographs and advertisements from local businesses.
Source material from this digital collection comes from the Archives and Rare Books Library, which holds archival copies of the printed News Record. Occasionally, you will find oddities in the pagination, volume or issue numbering, or mistakes in the dates. No attempt has been made to correct these mistakes as we present the publication as it originally appeared. However, sometimes there are two conflicting copies in the archival collection. When this occurs, we present both copies with an explanatory note.
The News Record frequently carried stories on the following topics:
A gift from the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association [www.alumni.uc.edu] funded the digitization of News Record issues from 1960 to 1970. A gift from Jordan Bleznick (A&S ’76) in honor of his father, Dr. Donald W. Bleznick funded the digitization of News Record issues from 1973 to 1976.
Issues in this collection currently span from 1914-1922 and 1960-1980.
Support to continue digitization of the News Record is actively being sought. For information about how to help, please contact the UC Libraries’ Director of Development at 513-556-0055 or make your gift online.
