Title: A School of Applied Arts for the University of Cincinnati
Author: Deshon, Robert A.
Description: Thesis Report written by Robert A. Deshon (of the Robert A. Deshon and Karl J. Schlachter Library for Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning Library), proposing the design and construction of a building to house the then newly formed ‘College of Applied Arts’ for the University of Cincinnati. Data included in Deshon’s Thesis Report are: A map of the University of Cincinnati campus c.1939 (plate A & B); breakdowns of student enrollment information within the Applied Arts departments (table A, B, & C); influence of sunlight for Applied Arts laboratory and lecture courses based on location and room design (table D, E, & F); natural light patterns in reference to window sizes and locations (plate C, G, I, & J); time azimuth & altitude angles per month on latitude 39 degrees (table G & H); diagrammatic layout of the school and relation of proposed building to the campus (plate E). Sketches and model images (of the proposed building) are also included. Accompanying drawings held by MIT Museum. Supervised by L. B. Anderson.
