This book was received by the Preservation Lab for housing and minor stabilization. The book is a full leather tightback binding. The textblock is sewn on five supports and is laced into the case with five raised cords along the spine. The book was previously rebacked with leather and three of the corners were previously repaired with leather. All leather present in the binding are red rotted and have significant crazing and flaking overall. The textblock remains in good condition. The leather was consolidated with one layer of Klucel G in isopropanol, 3%. No further treatment was conducted. The book received a protective CoLibri jacket and was housed in a custom corrugated clamshell. View Catalog Record |
