Description
This is a large collection of German silver gelatin photographs of ancient sculptures in a multi‐part series. Each series roughly consists of 300 photographs. The photographs are numerically labeled during the exposure process. These images are important because they may document sculptures that were destroyed during WWII and no longer exist. This is the second series from a collection of 16 series. The first two series have been rehoused into cloth covered clamshells while the rest of the series are stored in a temporary enclosure. Series 3‐16 are held together between acidic book boards with brown cloth tapes threaded throughout. An original title page, likely from a prior housing that is lost, is pasted to the upper temporary book board.
