Description
This half leather binding is from the Oesper History of Chemistry collection. This early 19th century binding features chestnut brown leather on the spine and corners and marbled paper covering the boards. The spine has some gold tooling decoration along the endcaps and there is a black leather title label adhered at the center of the spine. The edges of the text block are trimmed and sprinkled blue. The primary support is a light beige wove paper and the media is a black printer’s ink.
This book was brought to the Preservation Lab, along with a number of others, to receive surrogates for upcoming exhibition. Of interest in this particular volume is the plate 2, a foldout located at the end of the volume.
