Abstract

Description

"Tom begins the lay-up of fiberglass. He is using a "chopper gun" which performs several tasks simultaneously. It puts fiberglass twine into position, chops the twine in short fibers about 2" long, and blows these fibers on the surface with a mixture of epoxy resin. The result is a matted surface which is then tamped down with a roller kept clean with acetone. In some respects, the processes is similar to that of making felt. Pat secured a donation of the resin from Ashland Chemical Company." -- Laura H. Chapman
