Description
This binding was received in fair condition, mostly suffering from convex board distortion and a broken inner joint. This is a stiff board parchment binding with a parchment textblock sewn through the fold on three raised bands. The text is a handwritten manuscript with an illuminated first page. Conservation examination using the computational photographic method Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) revealed that the gilding is raised from the surface of the parchment and may be applied over a white gesso.
